I think this is more complicate. As it is acrylic you can see the logo of the board through the case. ;)

Wouldn't that limit to only 8 external devices? $FE, $FD, $FB, $F7, $EF, $DF, $BF, $7F In general Sinclair only used 3 bits (A0=keyboard, A1=NMI, A2=printer) while the other 5 bits can be used freely and in combination and many 3rd party interfaces did use more than 1 address line. It is typical for the ZX81 that there is no full address decoding used and keyboard responds to all i/o addresses with D0=0.

The stripe on the diode goes where the "line" is on the circuit diagram. (I think of the symbol as depicting an "arrow" hitting a "wall", showing the direction in which current can NOT flow.)
