In all the pictures I'm seeing of power draw, people seem to be attaching to everywhere other than the power regulator. I was wondering why please. I'm faced with powering the PiZero (220mA) and also the Wespi (I think about 200-300) and I was wondering where, on the board, I should put them. The ob...

Re: ZX-WESPI - add a cheap wifi-enabled fileserver to your Zeddy!
OK - so ... in theory/principle, it worked. However... The age of the socket meant that the contacts were not conductive when touching, likely just age and corrosion, and the topmost connector wasn't bending over correctly either, so it would need, "re-bending," in order to connect properly. Obvious...

Thanks! I'll let you know how I get on. But it'll be a few weeks.

Re: ZX-WESPI - add a cheap wifi-enabled fileserver to your Zeddy!
Thanks. An interesting topic. A little odd how the waspi can affect the zeddy. I will try the track cutting, after all if that fails I can always solder into the remaining post. So nothing to lose really. I do have a small hand-tool track cutter but I have also seen people using Dremmel. (I have one...

Re: ZX-WESPI - add a cheap wifi-enabled fileserver to your Zeddy!
Yes, I've seen that. It's the same on my issue 3. However, it's not the practice, but more the theory... it's nothing to cut the trace with a PCB trace cutter... if it will yield the desired result... ie. plug a tape in, and the Wespi gets cut out of the picture... which is what people seem to desire?

I don't know the technical name for it, but here's a picture... Jack goes in, contact gets lifted and looses contact with one side of the jack. If the Wespi was connected there, then the insertion of the jack would stop the ZX81 from listening to whatever the Wespi was transmitting.

Re: ZX-WESPI - add a cheap wifi-enabled fileserver to your Zeddy!
This is going to sound a little far fetched... but I've been reading this thread and one person... when a "tape" is plugged in, their Wespi stands down, while for someone else, this doesn't happen and the Wespi jumps in. I was thinking... and I'm probably wrong in this... but the audio jacks usually...

If you don't have any RAM packs installed, I'm presuming there'd be nothing in the system to respond to A8 and higher? Just a thought ?

Re: Nominal video output signal on ULA pin 16 ZX81 rev 1?
Was it working before the mod? (possibly a silly question if you had to do the mod to see an image in the first place) My new and very limited experience with a white screen was that I had a short on the RAM lines. I was given a lot of good advice on what to check in this thread... https://www.sincl...
