Re: Sound in '81 games
Hi Spirantho welcome aboard I've tried for ages to find something for my zon x but to no avail. I've heard it suggested that a spectrum soundtracker conversion would be useful if it could be done, I don't have the latin for that kind of sorchery i'm afraid. Some kind of interface to reduce the tediu...

Re: ZX80/81 on a modern TV...
Agreed Chad
the early ulas (2C158E and 2C184E) seemed especialy dull, some with a "wavy screen" effect. Ula 2C210E which I think appeared on the issue three boards seemed much brighter.

Sir Morris
do us a favour put the soldering iron and vero board away and get coding again!!!
I thought Andre had some off-the-wall games ideas, this ones a little cracker (sprites on a zeddy yeees!!!)
You've done in m/l what he does in basic 10 out of 10.

Re: ZX80/81 on a modern TV...
Hi all even simpler mod is to use a phono lead, solder the braid to modulator and inner core to to left hand wire exiting modulator (when viewed from front) does away with transistor etc used this method for a while now on zx80 as well (only way i could get my usa zx80 to work on uk tv) I must add I...

Re: Help needed to start writing ZX81 games...
Hi Bobs One useful book to look out for is ASSEMBLY LANGUAGE ASSEMBLED FOR THE SINCLAIR ZX81.by Anthony Woods, pops up from time to time on e-bay. Explains use of ix and iy ,though neglects to mention that the zeddy should be in fast mode at the time!!! Written to be used with BUG-BYTES ZXAS assembl...

Re: Tricks in BASIC
Hi all
I agree with Sir Morris, Andre has the most unique take on what makes a good ( and addictive ) game I have ever come across. Even His rem statements have great graphics!! Good gameplay and all in Basic!!

Re: Question about EPROMS
Hi All Your suggestion is a good one Palmheads, I use an 8k memory board with battery backup, loaded with zxas assembler for speed of loading, or sometimes just to save work in progress. I also use a toolkit spread over two 2k eproms which can be used with 4k of the ram, but in the absence of a epro...

Re: Memotext & word processing in general
Hi Palmheads I think the reason The Memotext never caught on was the sheer complexity of the damm thing!!! No hi res display and to achieve anything useful you had to master a bunch control codes and guess what the output would look like! It does have a keyboard buffer built in so no lag. I have str...

Re: Memotech keyboard for the ZX81
Hi All I have a few add on keyboards and would say that the fuller is the slickest to use with the best feel, but suffers the usual key press lag as it does not have the memotechs buffering. Also the memotech, like all their gear, is very pro looking. Mine is still in use all keys working (though le...
