Re: ZX Printer Belt
Mark/Marcel, Please tell me if I am being needlessly paranoid, selfish, or whatever. This is a project that I have been pursuing for the last several months and have put a ton (tonne?) of time and energy into. It was inspired by my reading 10+ year-old threads about how so many people would love to ...

Re: 3K Rampack issues
The only machine I have to test on is my TS1000, which has shown to be completely compatible with all my previous Ram pack builds. Due to availability issues at the time I ordered the last batch of RAM chips, what I am using now are 450ns chips which have shown to work in past builds. The 200ns have...

Re: 3K Rampack issues
Mark: I tried your suggestion using only the decoder installed and everything looked rosy (got a nice "K" prompt. The board I am using is based on the Markus Brenner design. The same board as discussed in the first link but corrected by Charlie. Siggi: All the connectivity checks I did were with the...

3K Rampack issues
I am in the process of building more of my reproduction Ram packs for the ZX80 and recently received 3 more PCB's from OSH Park of the same design as the previous order. I am populating the board with the same components as before (18-pin dual-wipe sockets, 5 VOLT 1KX4 450 NS DIP-18 STATIC RAM, 74LS...

Re: New member from Oregon, USA
Thanks, Moggy. Like my 3K Ram Pack reproduction and ZXpand enclosures, sometimes I just have to do something because no one had ever done it before, as well as trying to fill a need amongst Zeddy owners. All the things you mentioned about the printer are indeed spot-on, but still this is something I...

Re: New member from Oregon, USA
"and if the 3d belt thing ever sees a successful light of day I will change my name to Betty" Well, I hate to inform Moggy that I now have a ZX printer to further proof out my belt design that has already had a successful tryout. Matter of fact, the .STL was posted to the forum a few months back, th...

My guess is that it would be pretty s-l-o-w. Might still be interesting, though.

Re: Using a paint stripper heat gun to de-solder?
Update. My efforts to heat a copper block to melt the solder on socket pins was a total failure. Even after heating the block for several minutes with a propane torch it never got hot enough to melt solder. Would apparently need a furnace to get it hot enough.
One scrapped PCB.

Re: New member from Oregon, USA
Andy has only made a hundred or so. He's probably still recovering from the soldering fumes if he hasn't already given himself dain brammage.
