I've been using the ZX81 emulator to write some simple programs, but am unabe to save them. I get a file, but it won't load. I can run programs I type in or download from the web, but can't seem to save anything. Any suggestions? I've got to be doing something stupid, I just don't know what it is.
Thanks!
Jim

Welcome
It would help if you could tell us which emulator you’re using. As there is more than one…

Okay, for
EightyOne do the following:
- On the Tools drop down menu, click Tape Manager
- In the Tape Manager window, click the left hand icon (looks like a piece of blank paper) to create a new "tape"
- In the same window, click the speaker icon to turn loading sounds on/off, click the lightening icon to turn Flash Load on, click the icon to the right of this to turn Auto Start/Stop on.
- Click the main EightyOne window and type SAVE "name"
- In the Tape Manager window, your program name should now appear.
- In the Tape Manager window, click the disk icon to save the tape file (we normally use ".P" files).
To LOAD from "tape":
- In the Tape Manager window, click the folder icon to open a file selector, then select the tape file.
- If Flash Load and Auto Start/Stop are both on, just type LOAD ""
Do keep in mind that you have to select the correct hardware setup before loading if needed.
