EMULATOR / Real Hardware - a question

Hi there.

I found pretty fine game on the Net.
I converted it into WAV ( http://yerzmyey.republika.pl/sq.zip ) and load on my ZX81.
And I found the *ever time* it's broken. Line 120 is changed: PRINT commad dissapears and I get some "P" (inverse) letter instead.
Of course it can be easily fixed and then I can play the game but it's kinda ennoying.
I tested this WAV on an emul (EO handles WAVs) and......... it works OK! Very weird. Can anybody say anything about it?
Doesn't look like TAPE LOADING ERROR, as the error is *always* the same and at last - the game starts and run normally (until it encounter broken line 120).

Any ideas?

...anybody was able to check this game out on the real hardware?

Do the fail shows only in the real hardware ? I do download the game and loaded it on the EO, all works just fine.
Just some curiosity: If I break the porogram, then never can RUN it again, I allways have a 2/200 error... thats because some variables was decleared on the "inmediate mode"

So do you need that I try it on the real hard ?

I'm afraid so.
I mean - of course just if You have some spare time.
Guys from German forum said it might be because of 2 different ROMs in ZX81.
Old one and the new one (the new is mostly in emulators).
I found also another one game that doesn't work on my ZX81 ( http://forum.tlienhard.com/phpBB3/viewt ... ecb158e3f5 ) - the ball flies only in two direction without end. Very weird regarding the emulator's working: there everything's OK. Hm.
Maybe there are 2 slightly different ZX81 versions indeed...?

PRINT PEEK 3832

Gives 33 for the 'old' rom and 205 for the 'new' or 'improved' rom.

Track down the old rom and try it in EO, see if it makes a difference!

mmmm I think that this is not a ROM difference problem... I do check it on EO with 3 different ROMS ZX81.ROM, ZX81A.ROM and ZX81B.ROM. the first ROM reports 203 (OLD ROM) and the second and third reports 33 (NEW VERSION)... but the game works fine in the 3 ROMS...

I need some time in home to test it on the real hard...

OK, I will test it again now, when the keyboard is fixed. Although I doubt it would cause so strange behaviour. But we will see.

I was wrong.

Somehow, after keyboard's repairing the game loads correctly and works fine.

So I will test now the other one, I mentioned on http://forum.tlienhard.com/phpBB3/viewt ... c05316541e forum about.
