Moon Patrol

Post by Bean » Wed Nov 08, 2017 12:39 am

I was thinking about making "Moon Patrol" for the ZX81.
Was looking for already existing versions for inspiration, but I haven't been able to find any.
Does anyone know of any "Moon Patrol" type games for the ZX81 ?

Thanks,
Bean

It's safe to say I've never seen one. Go for it!

a program called "Jeep Lunaire" was published in the french magazine Hebdogiciel (No 70)
take a look here : http://www.hebdogiciel.free.fr/ZX81_4.htm (and look for the others programs, some are great too)
an other called Mars Patrol here : http://www.hebdogiciel.free.fr/ZX81_9.htm

Xav has to know it, he provided many archives on this site ;)

I know there is one or two others but i don't remember their names actually.

Let us know about your work on a new version of Moon Patrol !

Happy to bring you the information for this "new-old" ZX-related stuff ;)
I was also exited when i found it (some years ago)
It have also programs for Spectrum (and Casio, CBM, Sharp,....)

You may find some zx81 programs wich have been deleted by author request.
If so just tell me as i also typed many of them when i was teenager and i may have it somewhere on tape.

Well, initially IRON ZXLIDER would be based on Moon Buggy, jumping over holes while riding over the moon.

Gameplay is not that much different....

Hi,
"Spatio Jeep" is also a good alternative in basic...

Here is my initial design. I may change the ship at the top to graphic characters because it is kinda hard to see.
The game play will be in assembly. And the source will be available.
There will be parallax scrolling.
The buggy wheels alternate from "XXX" to "+++" to give that rolling look.

Any comments are welcome...
