Sinclair ZX80 / ZX81 / Z88 Forums

Hi,

I'm hoping to find some useful ZX80 (4K ROM ) tricks that I can deploy in BASIC.

For instance, when a program listing ends, it waits for a key press. Can I call this bit of the ROM in my program, and if so will it continue from the next line on return, or go back to direct mode?

Is there any way that I can read key strokes other than using INPUT?

Whilst I don't have the Latin for such alchemy you might want to pose this question on the German ZX forum, I find the lads there tend to be very clued up on the 80 and may have the answer you seek.

Hi,

I finished my tic-tac-toe game for the 4K ROM ZX80 which is available here. It is written for the unexpanded machine so there is no AI and it is therefore more difficult to let the computer win.

Does anyone have some byte-saving tips for it? I can think of one or two but I'm not an expert.

It's a great forum Shaun and as Siggi says language is no barrier (they understand me and I'm a bloody Yorky! )

In my case when in doubt Google translate with a big dose of copy and paste is the order of the day.
