1K Hires : Car race
Re: 1K Hires : Car race
Here is the screen with the two different cars.
Second car is not on screen due to collision error (for which I might have the solution).
Your car is the stickered top car.

Re: 1K Hires : Car race
It looks like this could be yet another classic 1K game - such a shame that these were not released on a compilation cassette

Re: 1K Hires : Car race
Well, I want to try to make a cassette with the guy from 'whats-its-compagny' that released MAYHEM. I know who that is, where he lives, been there many years ago once. Other advantage, all games CAN be tested before sale since I now have MULTIPLE ZX81( I got one from a collegue)RWAP wrote:It looks like this could be yet another classic 1K game - such a shame that these were not released on a compilation cassette
Re: 1K Hires : Car race
The solution to the collissionbug for the second car is
1) expansion of the screenbuffer with a staggering 128 bytes (or 67% growth!)
2) a circular screenbufferlayout {TM and (c) Dr Beep}
I think you all guess what my solution is.
The problem was that there is not enough room in the current screenbuffer when the
first car is passed by the playerscar and taking space where the second car is situated
(or other way around when you would drive at the bottom of the screen).
This can be solved to add the same space above and below the playercar to store 2 cars when
that situation appears. Another solution is to jump back up to the space that is not used.
This will need an adjustment in the screenroutine where a check on end of buffer must be
added and then go back to start of buffer, but there is enough delay to calculate that jump.

There are still several companies that produce (when ordered) professional cassettes with a cover and 'imprint' on the cassette itself, and so on (which is most strange as this data/music storage has died so many years ago) and they're even pretty cheap, even for one person, to order 100 or 300, but at the moment
1) I have serious problems with my job (our firm is dying fast)
2) I was publishing only people's music and I'm not sure if data would be still recorded well enough to use it with ZX81. And they don't do 'single test issues' for sure.
