Wilf's NOVA is able to display 1 to 28 lines, so more or less time is available to run a BASIC program:

Here's a demo of Quick Mode with an explanation by Wilf.

Works with emulators Eightyone, ZesaruX and sZ81.

Tested on a T/S 1000 with two LCD monitors, flicker is much less on both. However, one monitor only displayed every other scan line.

Depending on how your monitor handles it, it could be useful for speeding up full screen programs.
