ULA revistited.
Re: ULA revistited.
now i could be wrong, but.... when ZXpand is active the NMI's are turned off.... in Turbo mode this is one of the actions that turns Turbo off, Like when loading from Tape.... so transfer speeds will i suspect be unaltered....
Over in the ZX80 world i haven't the foggiest, it is something i will have to look at having said that i haven't even got round to testing a Turbo mode on a ZX81 pretending to be a ZX80...
Oh joy.
Regards Andy

what's that Smell.... smells like fresh flux and solder fumes...
Re: ULA revistited.
Just done a rough price, i really need to gather all the receipts and do a proper tally...PokeMon wrote:Yes I need one or two ULA too.
Do you have already an idea of the price ?
I hope it's not more than a used ZX81.
It's looking roughly at GBP 15-00 + postage....

Re: ULA revistited.
If it's more GBP 15.00 than GBP 1500 you can count 2 for me.
I think we could do a combined order from germany for save postage.
I even play in my mind to give you ULA a kick with speed in general.
You don't have to change anything for me, I will just play with it and see what happens.
Maybe it can be connected without problems to a modern LCD with 100 Hz / 31,25 kHz frequency range without modification.
So do you think the ULA can be run with 13 MHz directly ?
Maybe you have the type - I can look in the datasheets myself or you will do shortly.
I could do the rest on my Zeddy (change CPU/ROM/RAM).
And together with turbo programs could run like hell.

Re: ULA revistited.
Sounds good to have a collective order to Germany. Please ask in our Forum. It will be helpful if YOU do it rather than I do it. They already think i would hide my Whisky orders in all the collective ZX orders i did this year
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is.

Re: ULA revistited.
Here is a sneak peek
and fully wired for extra features.
the board measures 23x54mm and will fit issue 1 and issue 3 boards. and stands about 10mm higher than a socketed Standard ULA.
Only 24 more to go, and start testing ZX80 mode, (you will need a ZX80 ROM in your zeddy )

Re: ULA revistited.
Hi Andy,
for the ZX-Team (including Pokemon and me) we are at 9 ULA's at the moment. If your first Batch sells fast it may help that a date around the end of february would be sufficent for us as we have our out meeting in march where we would spread them and have some tests with them. If you want to deliver earlier that should be no problem.

Great pictures Andy
It looks so much better in its home environment next to a Z80 on a Zeddy PCB
