DEMOS FOR ZX81/TS1000/TS1500??????

Post by yerzmyey »

Hi there.

From time to time I refresh this theme.
I realize that It's hard to make appropriate demos without sound but I still think it's worth to make.

Several years ago I found some short graphical demos for ZX81 and they were cool (I can upload them somewhere but probably You know them already; single-effect demos with impressive gfx of fire, dancing child, some longer nice animation...). If they would be linked together (in multiloading way: when the memory if full, next effect is loaded after previous one and so on) there could be appeare a long, full demo. :)

Well, there are demos for Commodore VIC-20 and other ancient machines...

Just a thought anyway.

PS: Of course I don't count music collections for ZX81 (they were great, thanx for the demos, guys!)

Not sure about the demos, but this reminds me of LittleJohn's request. A ZX81 with the MMC or SD interface should be more than enough to create a program that would take advantage of the mass storage to store modified versions of .p snapshots and run games in 'demo' mode for a few seconds, something like a slide show.

I remember seeing some demos that came (come?) with EightyOne, and some demos that were hardware based (much like the ROM cartridges for the Spectrum's IF2) and were used in stores in the U.S. Unfortunately the few people who have this type of hardware haven't come forward to let us see what they have (besides a few 'I have this and that' statements). I understand why some people don't want to sell a rare item, but they could at least (and this is where I go a little bit off-topic) take pictures of it, write a description, and see if someone can draw a schematic so that others can recreate it if desired.

I would love to see a demo of Mike's ZX Spectrum emulator for the ZX81, for example. :D

Ah, SP81.

That's stored on a hard drive from a PC that's long died. I'll dig it out sometime and put it on the web for you.

I ment stuff like from Spectrum scene. Like this http://www.ramsoft.bbk.org/images/nmi2.gif or sommit.
Some art-like creations.
Of course fitted to ZX81's characteristic. Especially that ZX81 is strongly BASIC-based. Hehe. :)

I tried to make such a thing in 1999 http://republika.pl/hooyprogram/nsdemo.zip which is "NO-SOUND DEMO" but of course it's crap because I'm not a programmist. http://hooyprogram.republika.pl/nsdemo.gif

However it will not stop me and probably I will make "NO-SOUND DEMO II" soon, hahahahahah! (evil laugh).

Anyway in this thread I ment some real demos showing the comp's possibilities and so on...
And believe me, there are many good monochrotmatic demos for Spectrum, so it is possible. Even in low-res would be nice.

PS: For now I think about slideshow with ZX81_GFX_COMPO_2007 pictures. Hm. We will see.
