DATEL VoxBox

Post by tokabln »

Dear folks,

is there anybody who can share a scan of the documentation / manual covering the DATEL VoxBox, please?

I do have such a box but without any docs and/or manual. Would be great if someone could help me here.

Greetings from Berlin (Germany)

It looks like this is one rare piece of kit. I've spent some time looking for information as I'm interested in speech boards, but there really does seem to be nothing out there :(

This is a picture of the ZX Spectrum version:

It uses a General Instrument SP0256 speech chip.

As you can see in the picture, this version includes a joystick port, which is apparently Kempston compatible. So responds to reads from IO port 31 (1F hex).

That's all I have found so far...

The software for the ZX Spectrum version is available from World of Spectrum here. Maybe you could load it in an emulator and work out how it works :?:

Hi Mark,

exactly the shown box of your uploaded picture is what I purchased a few days ago via ebay

The frontcover is missing as well as the cables for Audio IN and RF IN as you can see. While this is not the problem, I'm looking to find a manual and/or handbook. I do have the Demo software downloaded already but I need to add the missing cables prior testing. I hope that the box is working then but if not I do have a spare speech chip to repair the box if it's the chip.

Anyhow... docs, manuals or what ever are warmly welcome.

Thanks...
