uLA81 pin problem

Post by msknight »

I bought a few more uLA81 and one came with the pins squished. I should have contacted the seller, but like an idiot I tried to bend them back only to find out that these pins don't bend... they break.

Thinking this would be a straightforward job, I de-soldered the pins only to then find out that pin headers don't fit into turned pin sockets (which I'd installed on the board) so I had to de-solder those... and I'm not sure what I'm shopping for, in order to replace the pins. Obviously I just need a short strip of pins, that aren't header pins, or something.

I assume this is what you are looking for:
https://www.reichelt.de/stiftleiste-rm- ... nbc=1&&r=1
Available from W-P in different length (of pins) and number of pins.

Seems to fit into IC sockets.

Thanks. I'll look that up.

The sockets are turned pin, so don't accept square pin headers.

Turned / round pin "headers" are available from most of the major electronics suppliers. It's just that it takes a bit of finding on their web sites. For example, I have bought some from Rapid and Farnell in the past

Step up to red alert. Sir, are you absolutely sure? It does mean changing the bulb :!:
Looking forward to summer later in the year.

Cheers. Got some on order. Wonder if I've wrecked the thing ... oh the joys of not knowing :-)
