Could be related to the plug. With shown psu produced before Sinclair became involved with a variety of export markets. What's on the end of the AC cord?
Unfortunately it came without a plug. Being before the exporting of computers makes sense - there would be no need to mark it as UK.

Unusual PSU

Along with the early bugged ROM zeddy I just bought I got the PSU below.

On all the ones I have seem so far it either says UK700 or UK1200. I don’t remember seeing one with just the ratings on it like this. Anyone else seen one?

Re: "Different" ZX81's

This seems to be turning into the Lardo Boffin thread. It makes me wonder if I need to stand up at a meeting and say ‘My name is Lardo and I cannot stop buying zeddies’.... Regardless:- BBFB4F18-7D66-4BAF-8463-E4BDD1FDBF5C.jpeg Nice and early ULA. 8112. I think they started in 8109? So pretty early!...

Re: HELP i was trying to replace caps now i have issues!

Do you have a multi-meter? If so use the continuity checker to see if the tracks are actually broken. If not then get one. :D They are cheap and extremely useful! Did it work ok before changing the caps? Did you change all of the caps in one go or did you do a couple and then test, and repeat until ...

Re: White screen and no cursor at all

Just checked my order history on Sell My Retro and it appears I have fitted 24 like this! I have not had to move R1 much from there on any of them. I believe PokeMon sets them up for one ULA type before sending them out... So you should only need to adjust them slightly if using the same ULA type. ...

Re: White screen and no cursor at all

Once you adjust the ZX8-CCB you should get a really good picture. For later ULAs I start with this position and then fine tune:- 35DC1118-6135-4F8E-B637-8CCB59040850.jpeg Yellow lines added for clarity. ;) Before adjusting I always take a photo of the current position. Very useful when it gets wors...

Re: White screen and no cursor at all

Isn't that mini-pcb supposed to go into the modulator can? :? (after you rip its contents out). That would very much tidy up the wiring since all signals / power supply you need is right there. I always do it like this:- 8E420FA4-54FA-4B78-8AB2-7F9080AE92B7.jpeg The brown wire goes into the ...

Re: Very nice condition ZX81 up for adoption

Hi, Do you have a 16K expansion? Is the PSU included, you did not mention it? Yes, I am still interested. Thanks Rgds Hi It is for the computer only - no PSU or RAM pack etc. I am afraid. I can add in a cassette lead and RF / aerial lead. They didn’t come with the computer but I have some spares. S...
