Re: 28C64 in 2364 socket (28 pin to 26 pin)

Nice :) I've done something similar for SMD EEPROM chips. See below: http://www.fotogalleria.info/pub/ZX81/ZX81_EPROM_SMD_01.png The project is public on OSHPark, there: https://oshpark.com/shared_projects/ArG7JDff Is is possible to buy a complete one of these anywhere? My ZX81 total rebuild (which...

Nice.

By the way, have you tried the keyboard beeper?
No - the paperwork etc. only arrived today. Plus all my retro stuff is in storage for a while.

Re: Keyboard beeper

In case anyone is curious here is the 2k RAM pack. The wires to the edge connector go through the case!

Keyboard beeper

Hi all I recently bought some ZX81 stuff as there was a set of assembly instructions included. As well as a 2K RAM expansion in a cassette case! :D Clearly the previous owner was into electronics as there were a few snippings from electronics magazines. One of them is this - a keyboard bleeper. Doub...

Wow. Thats about half the price of most of the others. :D

Looking at the manual I can’t see any obvious functionality missing. Awesome!

Re: Sinclair Zx Spectrum: absolutely better ...

A very amusing read! Funnily enough hardly anyone at my school had C64s. It was mostly Spectrums and a few beebs (me and a few of my mates - I had gone ZX81, Spectrum 16K and then beeb model B). All of our arguments inevitably ended up with the fact that the beeb cost nearly three times as much as a...

Re: do we still use UHF modulators ?

It was actually a tough call to vote for composite only as it does mean that broken zeddies which are not comp modded won’t be fixable with this ULA however I suspect that this will be a minority and most people given a choice would go composite! I have bought a fairly large number of zeddies (I thi...

Thanks for all the encouraging words and your time Mark! Also a rather impressive de-solder and bit of socketing there!

Re: Improving Timex/Sinclair Tape Loading

Thanks. I guess this is where lack of experience comes in. I can check resistors ok and capacitors (so long as they are marked) but other suff not so much! Given that all their products say that photos are generic it never crossed my mind that the chip should say LM324 on it. Still I will kno...
