Re: ZX81 rebuild

I removed the ZX8 and tried it again with my test rig ZX8 and got a picture so the zeddy is fine. Before removing it I tried it tuned to the same position as the test one but got nothing. This is why I think I broke it. :(

Will buy a few more and try and be more careful this time.

Lardo, are you planning to get in the World's Book of Records with owning most ZX81s?
Would it help my case if I said I don’t actually know how many I have?

Its probably less than 10. To be fair I did refurbish and sell quite a few over the last couple of years.

Re: ZX81 rebuild

Another day another issue... So the zeddy works perfectly when connected to my Chroma - lovely picture. I have fitted a ZX8 (with the extra bit to keep the picture going) but cannot get it to work! I have fitted about 15 of these now (maybe more) so I have a reasonable level of skill in tuning...

Re: ZX81 rebuild

Well, after a brief pause to move house (if only the builders had finished it before we moved in  ) I have finally got back to this! I fitted a turned pin socket for the oscillator and put in an original zeddy one:- D79CD3CB-BA24-4A3C-B0ED-6DC0B5CED185.jpeg Its alive!!! And yes I have be...

I wouldn't worry too much, Knowing Andy as I do I predict he won't stop till we all have at least one each and kudos to him for giving up the most important thing there is,that's his time and considering he's hand assembling the buggers himself it must be lengthy.
Absolutely and well said.

Re: Wandering across

Hello Alan! Welcome on board. The first computer I ever saw in the flesh was a ZX81 so I very much have a soft spot for them.

Re: ZX81CCP

I wonder if any more of ZX8?CCP are in the planning. I need one for my TAZ project. Does anyone have a spare to sell? Charles I think I have one. It was earmarked for a zeddy refurb but there is no rush on that so if I do have one you are welcome to it. I think I probably paid around £10 for it inc...
