Re: 48K Issue 2 - S-Vid mod colour issue
As I see from a search that both of your TVs have a rear HDMI socket an alternative would be to use an s-video to HDMI converter. All my Spectrums have the same s-video mod as yours and I've always found that the Tendak converters to be very good, though that is no guarantee. Double check that the a...

Re: 48K dark output
Replaced both transistors. Did help a bit, but not massively. Also the socket for the RF now component cable is a bit "shoogly" and the cable connection is not reliable. I can't see a replacement part on retroleum as there is for power and audio. Anyone know of a suitable source? I recently did s-v...

Re: 48K dark output
You didn't say which transistors you replaced. Changing TR1 & TR2 with higher gain transistors can make the composite output brighter - but make sure you get them the right way round. From the retroleum site: If you find the brightness is a bit dark, you can boost it by replacing TR1 and TR2 with BC...

Ah, I answered that earlier in this thread:

If you remember it was when you'd asked a question and I'd misunderstood what you wanted and posted the above info. It is the best answer I can give to your current question though.

Re: REM Line length
Most retro computers limit you to 256 characters. Is that the case here or one can just keep going until the screen is filled up? You can have a REM statement that fills up most of the available RAM. It'd obviously be tedious to type in though. I wrote a little assembler program a while ago where y...

Re: Today's beginner question - Arrays in Assembly
Two odd things: INC BC ;Skip two bytes to get us to the next pointer INC BC JP LOADLOOP ;Repeat until end of table You're incrementing one too many here as you incremented BC earlier. Secondly, in the code below, HL is pointing to a sprite table entry but you're then overwriting the first byte of th...

A couple of ACS Software titles found.
The Dis-ACSem and Progstore ZX81 titles have been found and preserved by Andre Leao. Many thanks to him. This was posted on spectrumcomputing. I imagine the overlap of people there and here will be considerable but thought I'd post in case some archivers missed it. https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/fo...

Re: How to convert piano chords to zx spectrum 128?
what about the +3 or QL? The QL also only has a single audio channel. The sound is generated by its second processor (which is better described as a microcontroller). The BEEP command has the parameters: duration, pitch, pitch2, grad_x, grad_y, wrap, fuzzy, random. I'm no musician but I very much do...

Re: UDG/CHR$ Board
The Chroma 81 interface provides UDG (as well as colour and more memory). They are currently sold out but the designer, Paul Farrow, hasn't AFAIK ruled out producing another batch at some stage. You could always ask him to put you on his waiting list. There is a Contact link on this page. http://www...
