Re: New ZX81 Games
Just released: Getaway Driver for the 16K ZX81. Really like this, in some ways I think it's better looking than the Speccy one. But there seems to be a nasty bug - I was noodling around in level 1 with two baddies left, doing nothing in particular, when this happened: Getaway Driver-240703-145420.p...

A challenge! The Game Of Puckman
So I stumbled across this today: https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/29204/ZX81/The_Game_of_Puckman It's a weird Zeddy port of Pac-Man with fast, smooth movement and an unusual approach to powerpills, which are scattered liberally all over the maze. The page shows a maze very akin to the arcade, w...

Re: New ZX81 Games
Jonathan, Is there a way to turn off the flashing hints? I know it sounds daft, as this is possibly all especially needed in the game mechanics, but I wanted to start being a bit crap at playing and learn quickly. With the assist of, "Put me here" I couldn't struggle and wonder where. There's no op...

I really like it but it's SO hard without autofire that you can't clear more than about three levels before your hand falls off ![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

That's really cool. But can you do it with Phoenix? ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

Re: New 1K Game : KILOPEDE
Very impressive! Could definitely use autofire, though.

Re: New ZX81 Games
Really nice and smooth and fun, but the white border in non-Chroma mode looks very strange when you've painted the side passages. (It also might be better to use down rather than up to enter your name, because with 2 for up it invariably insta-starts a new game with 2, which gives you the cursor key...

Re: New translation: Stock-Car
So here's a version with the highscore code lines in, and line 1000 changed from CLEAR to PRINT. If I print PEEK 21212 it's still 5, which is what I get from the working version, but when the race starts I get a 2/8010 error. (Line 8010 is a simple NEXT Y.) So it looks like that's not the solution :...

Re: New translation: Stock-Car
Another thought, you could prune some bytes from above line 1500, maybe use a VAL here and there then add your GOTO line just make sure line 1500 starts at 21,212. Use PEEK 21212 to track your pruning. It should match before and after pruning. I'd already thought that, eg I tried replacing the prob...
