Re: Starting Composite Mod

I would think the 50Hz signal would disrupt the signal to the US TV. Actually, not really a problem in this case. Now, I am going into a monitor, not a TV, but it still wasn't a big deal. My monitor has a vertical adjustment dial and all I had to do was adjust it a bit to stop it rolling. I probabl...

Here's my labeled switch. Re: Should i move to Europe to acquire a ZX81?

ZX81's aren't too bad, if you are patient. I got a pair off of Craigslist for $50 with some extra stuff (printers/16k pack) included. They are out there... There are some decent ones on e-bay from time to time as well. And don't forget to include the Timex Sinclair 1000 in your search. A ZX81 with 2...

Re: TS1000 ULA vs ZX81 ULA

OK, I did my 50hz/60hz switch mod. Hard to tell the difference display wise on my monitor. I thought the K looked a bit lower and the screen maybe a bit greyer?? But I couldn't tell. So to see if my switch was working, I decided to run a speed test. I found a basic program on this forum talking abou...

Re: Why was Sinclair selling UK model ZX81s in the USA?

My TS1000 doesn't have this at all, but my ZX81 does. Re: Why was Sinclair selling UK model ZX81s in the USA?

Question about the USA Model ZX81's.... I'm looking at my Zeddie, Model No ZX81 USA. On the side of the case by the RF Modulator, it looks like plastic was added to patch where the RCA jack used to be for the UK model. It is very nicely done, but I can see the outline and the plastic is slightly dif...

ZX8-CCB is temporarily sold out but planned to be come back in a few weeks. ;)
Looks like I missed it, unless I am just not seeing it on sellmyretro, which is possible. I have trouble finding stuff on that site. ;-)

Anyway, interested. ;-)

Re: Starting Composite Mod

Thanx for the info. I figure the 16k pack is mostly for the shelf (like my ZX Printer), but I still might poke at it to see if I can get it going at some point. That's way down the line tho. ;-) I theoretically did the 50/60 hz mod using the channel 2/3 switch. (The Tynemouth software mod.) I don't ...

Re: New member from Oregon, USA

Just a bit of an update on where I am. (Some of this is in my Composite mod thread) I made a basic (just 1 transistor and 1 resistor) composite mod and at a basic level, it works! I cut back the ribbon cable a tad and now all my keys are working. The 16k RAM pack isn't working. When I plug it in, th...

Re: Starting Composite Mod

OK, got my keyboard working... Dang working with that flat ribbon is tricky. Of course, as I carefully pulled it out, one ribbon left some pieces in there... Grrrr... :x  Took me several tries to get it just right, but it looks happy now and the keys work! I was able to type my first program......
