zx81 save failure
I tried using audacity to save a program from my zx81. The 'save' tone only lasts about 3 or 4 seconds before the signal drops to a very low level. Does anyone know what might be causing this?

Hi Paul - it is interesting that you got a zx 81 after getting a spectrum. Most went the other way! My school had a couple of Commodore Pets and a BBC micro at the time I had my 1st zx81.

The limitations of the machine, particularly the 1k ram, is part of the charm of the zx81. It forces better, at least more efficient, programming. Quite clever to sell the ram expansion as an 'optional' (!) extra. When they released the zx80 and 81 what was their market? There were plenty of utility...

Newbie to the forum, oldie to the zx81
Hi all. Excited to receive a zx81 for Christmas. My 4th in my life, though haven't had one for 30 years or more. I was late to the party and got my 1st in 1983 for £25.99 and enjoyed 2years of 1K before finally affording a 16k ram pack- Micro-Peripherils I think. I added a rubber overlay for the key...
