Re: Hello from France !

My first computer program was written at school on optical cards in 1977 in Maths class. Each line of the BASIC program had an 80 character optical card. We had to write the program out, look up the ascii values of the characters, convert that into binary, then colour in the appropriate 'hol...

Re: Removing ZX81 keyboard adhesive

Quick update, the adhesive remover worked, but it took a good 5 or 6 applications and rubbing with a cloth to remove it. The new keyboard is now fitted and working (though I had an issue where its position was slightly off and had to peel and re-stick, but it all worked out). So now I'll be looking ...

Re: Removing ZX81 keyboard adhesive

Thanks for the answers!

I've ordered some adhesive remover which should be safe for use on the plastic case of the ZX81, and will see if that helps.

If not, it's a hot air/water and a lot of scrubbing!

Removing ZX81 keyboard adhesive

I'm attempting to replace the keyboard on my refurbed ZX81. Turns out the keyboard wasn't refurbed, and is the original 1980 branded one, which is why it's failed. However I've got the keyboard off but the adhesive has remained stuck to the case and I can't shift it. Any tips on removing it? isoprop...

Re: Did 3D monster maze have it's beginnings here?

This is a very interesting thread! 3D Monster Maze is my all-time favourite ZX81 game, and back in the mid 90's I was inspired to create my own version for the Psion Series 3a pocket computer. I wrote mine from scratch in the built in OPL language, which was like a structured version of BASIC. It wa...

Re: New Member Hello & Question

Or there are some circuit mods with transistors, etc, to do B&W composite video output. This is what I've got in my refurbished ZX81 that I bought via Ebay. The output is astonishingly sharp - way better than the fuzzy, ghosty picture I remember on the B&W TV I had back in 1982. The only problem is...

Re: Hello from Lincs

That looks in pretty good condition! Even the logo paint isn't worn off.

I bet it cost a lot less than the reconditioned one I bought. :D

Re: TZXDuino for ZX81

I've got one of these - or at least a similar device, if not that exact model - and use it for both my ZX81 and Spectrum, and it's a great little device, and very reliable at loading. The only thing is I wish it supported saving. It's a pity the ZX81 loading bars don't work with a modern composite m...

Re: R.I.P Sir Clive.

I am always on the lookout for some of the systems I wanted when I was just learning but could not afford; lately I think they are getting a bit too pricey for me even now! Due to not having to commute to work during lockdown I saved a fair bit of money so I bought a refurbed ZX81 and a rubber key ...
