Re: Keyboard Repair
The silver plating on the keyboard flex cable is very fragile, a couple of in/out of the original connectors and the plating would be ruined. My guess, the original flex cable ends were plated with a thick layer of copper... But, I'm sure there are many other variation on this theme.

Re: Keyboard Repair
Here it is in a nutshell. I trim the ribbons even. about 2" from the keyboard. Using a paper towel I then apply denatured alcohol to the side of the ribbon that is not the plastic carrier. I found that one side seems to have a removable coating. Being careful not to rub to hard or long. You can chec...

Composite to VGA
what are you folks using to convert a ZXvid output to VGA? I bought two converters and neither work well. The first one works OK but glitches randomly. The second one I bought shows two images like a blur.

Re: Keyboard Repair
I was hoping some could provide a method to remove the plastic covering from one side of the ribbons to exposed the conductors of a shortened ribbon.

Keyboard Repair
Found an old Zedy in my junk pile that has a keyboard that was never mounded but has damaged lead ends. One end is cut off and the other is folded where it probably cannot conduct electrons. Can the conductors be re-exposed?

Re: Hello from OR
Thanks! I ordered a ZXvid and plan to mount it in the Bud box with the ZX81 and add another RCA jack for that composite output.

ZXvid Install
Can the ZXvid be installed in tandem with the existing UHF modulator from an electrical perspective?
This, of course, assumes that one finds a location to mount the ZXvid and provide another RCA connector for output. My ZX81 is mounted in a Bud box so mounting is not an issue.
