Re: Firm Zeddie

I've often thought about this... Maybe a parallel port dongle that expands into a full ZX-bus. Hardware wise, it'd be quite simple - just a few latches should do the trick. However, a lot of hardware requires a minimum clock frequency to work properly and might be problematic if severely underclocke...

Re: Hello and help

That's strange. I'm running Vista Home premium and when I right click on a zip file I get an "Extract All" menu item... Anyway, another method... 1. Right Click on an empty part of your desktop, and select NEW->Folder from the menu. 2. Now double click on eightyone.1.0a.zip. A window should open sho...

Re: EightyOne 1.0a

sirmoris - see above.

Hymne.p is using different ports to what EO is expecting, but again different to what is in the Zon-X manual... We need to know how Zon-X is incompletely decoded to know what ports to accept.

Re: EightyOne 1.0a

OK, the mystery is solved :) EightyOne emulates Zon-X on Ports 0x0f and 0xdf. I've just read the original manual on Simon Holdsworths site, which states that ports 0x0f and 0xcf are used. The program hymne.p actually tries to use ports 0x1f and 0xdf. All this confusion is probably due to the real ha...

Re: Hello and help

Hi Jond. Here's a quick rundown on how to download and run EightyOne... (I'm assuming you're using Winows XP, other Operating Systems will be similar) 1. Right click on the link below and select "Save as...". http://www.chuntey.com/eightyone.1.0a.zip 2. When the file selector appears, ensure you're ...

Re: Disk Operating System

Hi Gus. It's just an OS, and as such should work with any interface. All you need to do is provide the Sector Read/Sector Write calls and it'll work. I was testing it with an emulated IDE interface and I know siggi uses it with a real MMC/SD interface. I'll dig out all the info when I get home from ...

Re: Disk Operating System

Hi Gus.

Yes, I've already written a DOS for the zx81 complete with CLI. It supports drives upto 132Gb but doesn't fulfill all your criteria - it's FAT32 compatible. I'll dig the documentation out today and put it up.

Re: Edge connector manufacturer?

Why bother...

Chop down an old 8-bit ISA motherboard, or buy a spectrum joystick interface off ebay...
