Re: HOT-Z Keys

My EPROM burner was designed to connect and work on both the Zeddy and the Speccy including the 2A in 48 mode so yes some do with the ZX printer being the obvious example.

Re: ZX81 RAM Disk Operating System

The board could be wired for EPROMs or static memory chips, I have both types. If the board was populated with static memory chips you could write to the board, throw a switch to isolate the writing side of things which could corrupt the data if the switch was left open and the battery would keep th...

Re: ZX81 RAM Disk Operating System

The "Hunter" board used to have battery backup so it may have been useful for that. I have two of those C/W with the correspondence between Paul Hunter and the American customer he sold them to for his Gardening business and can confirm that it was indeed useful in that respect as you could store r...

Re: Re-Programmable ROM Replacement

Being an old dinosaur I tend to stick with the boatload of 2764s I have, two pins lifted and two wires soldered, job done. As for the programmer I paid a fiver for one which does all the old 25v jobbies it's powered by my ZX Spectrum and is far simpler than any modern programmer so going into minor ...

Re: Weird ZX81 Behavior Cased By ROM

You have a 622 2nd issue ROM, a final issue 649 and the Motorola one I believe is also a 649. Some ROM faults can be caused by tarnished pins so try cleaning the ones on the ROM that appears faulty. More ROM info can be found halfway down this thread courtesy of Mark. https://www.sinclairzxworld.com...

Re: New release of EightyOne available

Wouldn't it be better for EightyOne to change RAMTOP? NO Eightyone does what it should do. It perfectly emulates the ZX81 and it add-ons. Also your post is very aggressive. If you don't know how the ZX81 works a question like "How can I get 64K working on EO" Or "Why do I have to enter .... to get ...

Re: ZX81 with mismatched ROM, jumper cable and flat cursor

Bit by bit it's getting there, nice one. :D The keyboard membranes Mark points to are very good replacements and have a more solid pair of ribbons than the original. One thing I have discovered with them is that once fitted leave them fitted as at end of the ribbon there appears to be some sort of c...
