Re: ZX81 Patent Posters
I'm wondering why the poster is dated 1984? The ZX81 was launched in March of 1981. Am I missing something?

Belated 40th Birthday wishes
Hi all, Just to say, https://popularretro.com/ has a ZX81 article written by me. I was hoping that the issue would have been available earlier in the year but it's available now to purchase (digital download and from today printed matter). Go check it out. Any feedback on the article is welcome. Any...

Re: ZX81X2.ROM - and the big bang
I could maybe see why the Next may have a 16K byte ROM image (that’s the size of the ROM in the memory map), but not a 32K byte ROM image. Unless the ROM file is ZX Spectrum 128K / +2 sized. These machines use bank switching to swap between the top ‘half’ and the ‘bottom’ half of a physical 32K byt...

Re: ZX81X2.ROM - and the big bang
Technical question, is there any way that this could be included to run with the ZX81 emulator on the ZX Spectrum Next?
It looked like I could just switch one ROM image for another but on the ZX Next SD Card the ROM image is 32K.
Regards,
Shaun

Re: Resizing the screen (number of lines)
I found a work-around to what I wanted to do which meant not POKEing anything
See my new Fruit Machine thread in this sub-forum.

Fruitz - another Fruit Machine-alike clone
Hi, I have "The ZX81 Pocket book" and found a "Fruit Machine" game in there, called "Fruit", though there were some bugs in the symbolic listing. I remade the game therefore fixing the bugs and doing some BASIC crunching for the 1K machine (the listing was 1K but it used things like numbers rather t...

Re: Resizing the screen (number of lines)
Thanks for the link, but there was also a way to do this in BASIC on an unexpanded ZX81 - unless my memory really is failing me.

Shaun.

Resizing the screen (number of lines)
Hello ZX Fanz, Is there a POKE or some simples BASIC way of reducing the number of lines that can be viewed on a ZX81 screen? I remember some SInclair User 1K "Race car" program that did just this, but much of my collection was either lost to time or destroyed in a garage fire. Thanks in advance for...
