Re: New ZX80 boards

I can't answer this one - I sent a ZX80 motherboard and what was left of an original keyboard to the company who took the measurements from it. Hi Rich, if we are having an extra pcb for the membrane, could you think of having the ZX80 membrane produced with the ZX81 writing on it? Maybe not shiny ...

Re: ZX-MMC2 Update log

As regards cases - the board is sized to fit snugly inside a Memopak 16K case. Glad to hear this. Fortunately I got a spare memotech case  That means you need to have the "long" connector and the little pcb at the other side where further attachments are mounted on. Is there a source for t...

Re: ZX-MMC2 Update log

Paul - seeing as you feel so strongly about it I'll arrange a kit for you :P If you don't mind I'll do the SMD because like I said - it's hard to separate them out. It will be the greatest honour to me to get an SMD-prepared kit from you Sire! 8-) As for the ready built ones, are they going to have...

Re: New ZX80 boards

I would love to see composite video out, and an easy way to remove the keyboard section Well you are lucky. Composite video out is already implemented in the prototypes, the modulator is left out. And If you have a saw (which I have), and dare to use it (which I don't) on this beautiful PCB, then t...

Re: ZX-MMC2 Update log

Hi all, of course I was just trying to make a joke. I have seen the picture of the PCB in this thread which shows that most chips are standard DIL. The mmc holder is, of course, a smd. I never wanted anything bad to anyone. I will most probably have used the wrong words, as I am not english. ...

Re: ZX-MMC2 Update log

Are you kidding? SMD on a ZX81? Not directly plugged in to a ZX81! Is there no chance of having standard chips? It would be tolerable to have the pic-module in SMD, its always that way if you add "intelligent" modules to the ZX like VDrive or VDip, but the ram, gal and so on should be possible to ha...

Re: ZX-MMC2 Update log

Ability to write to EEPROM when used instead of EPROM.
Would that be a 28c256 giving 4 Roms of 8K? Or 2 pages of 16K?

Re: New ZX80 boards

Hi Lee me personally love to have both variants which makes it two additional boards instead of one for me. The price itself isn't the issue as this istn't a OLPC Project. Of course leaving it the way it is, doesn't make it a "no go" the new layout would only be a nice to have. I would even not care...

Re: New ZX80 boards

Paul also said that Rich's membrane overlay fit the original ZX80 perfectly, and was "99%" for the Legacy ZX80. That was Jens. I asked him the same question, but I have no reply up to now. Maybe it is safer to use the dimensions Rich offered you, they will be 100% exact. Just give him a PN with you...

Re: New ZX80 boards

Whenever there will be new boards in the pipeline, there will be a collective order from germany organized in the Forum of the german ZX-Team. The link
http://forum.tlienhard.com/phpBB3/viewt ... ?f=2&t=351
will show you the thread to watch in order to participate.

Greetings from Germany
