Re: PANDEMIC - 4 level demo

Thanks everybody - it's always good to know I'm not just doing this for myself!

So... Can I take it that the ZXpand joystick support works well, and that rather than bombs a restart-level would be useful?

Re: PANDEMIC - 4 level demo

So what do others think of Rich's suggestion of adding bombs to the game?

Re: PANDEMIC - 4 level demo

Interesting idea, although that is supposed to be any easy level, and so I'd be afraid that even with said bombs you'd probably not get very far before you'd used them all.

PANDEMIC - 4 level demo

I've put together a 4-level demo of the game I'm currently working on. PANDEMIC is a follow-up to VIRUS, with more of an arcade feel with infinite ammo - 16K ZX81 required, and it has ZXpand joystick support. Download it here - http://www.bobs-stuff.co.uk/extras/pandemic_demo.zip - and let me know w...

Re: Border colour

What an interesting, and frankly largely over-my-head discussion! What's obvious to me from my games writing point-of-view is that it isn't possible to do on a standard machine without spending most of the time dealing with it - and so it's a non-starter. I thought that was probably the case - I'd n...

Border colour

Here's a question: can you change the border colour (ie not screen) to be black instead of white on a standard ZX81?

I know it goes black during FAST but isn't that just an absence of signal? If it can be done it would like likely change how I design my games.

Re: ZXagon - New 16K ZX81 Game

Thanks Andy - yes, I think it appears smoother than 10 fps, but it took an age even to get to that frame-rate, due to the various 'features' of the Zeddy.

Yes Stefano, I enjoy the 'native' text-mode display as well, and you get far more processor time and memory that way too.
