Berzerk in Hi Res

I've finally got a version of Berzerk is pseudo hi Res. I think it plays pretty good and has a lot of options for a ZX81 game. There is even a little Easter egg in there somewhere which I'm sure somebody will find soon enough. Does anybody else know of a Hi Res game that supports Chroma? Perhaps thi...

Re: Hi Res version of Berzerk

Yes I have been using fruitcake's graphic program. Of course, it still comes down to working out what works best. The player is going to be the worst of them. I need a left and a right facing design that looks reasonably similar from both sides. I need to make one left and right standing and steppin...

Hi Res version of Berzerk

Here's a sneak peek at a hi-res version of the Berzerk game I published last year. I can see why people hate pseudo hi-res. It's not fun to work with and seriously limited with what it can do. I've managed to draw the bad guys and am working on the player graphic. As last time, the robot back and fo...

Re: Hi from Brisbane.

There's quite few of us still working on ZX81 games so you'll find there's quite a lot you can do with them now.

I'm from New Zealand myself, so same global area.

Re: Generating a hi res display using flat assembler

The ULA looks for bit 15 of the address line. That explains it. Thanks.

I changed the line

LD HL,SCREEN_DATA-$21

to

LD HL,SCREEN_DATA+$8000-$21

It worked first time. So that was ten seconds work to fix it. I knew I was on the edge of success.

Generating a hi res display using flat assembler

I've been trying to produce a Hi Res system so I can try my hand at hi res games next. I've copied some published hi res routines to make my own basic hi res on the flat assembler FASMW-ZX. Have a play with it until I get the hang of it and then try programming something using it. The system to swit...
