Re: Doom 3D ZX81 style

Here's the Flat Assembler source code for the 3D room game. In this simple demo, grab three treasure items. A key appears and when you get that, the portal to the next room appears. I've added support for ZonX sound and Chroma colour. There are plenty of comments (mainly to help me remember what eve...

Re: Doom 3D ZX81 style

This is an unusual program in that it needs a kind of calibration. There are scaling tables to calculate the size of objects and the walls. So those tables will need to be tweaked to make a better size transition. One good thing about making the computer draw the frames is that it's very memory effi...

Doom 3D ZX81 style

Here's something I've been working on for a few months. How about a 3D game where unlike 3D monster maze, etc you actually can turn your head and walk forwards or backwards? Here's a proof of concept game. All you can do is pick up the spinning ankh treasure which releases a key. When you pick up th...

Re: Phoenix ZX81 arcade conversion

Scuffed up a little box art for it: phoenixbukstersmall.png I've got a publisher who might be interested in putting out a cassette release of this. He might want to use your cover art. Are you OK with that and is the artwork original? It looks a lot like the cover of the arcade game's service manua...

Re: Phoenix ZX81 arcade conversion

Here's another version on Phoenix with a few final tweaks.

The title animation now repeats after a while in case you missed it. You can return to it from the menu screen if you want too.

The option to change border colour now reads border, not borer. A bit of a typo there.

Re: Phoenix ZX81 arcade conversion

I've squashed a number of bugs, added a few new features and a nice splash screen. Here's what I hope will be the final version of ZX81 Phoenix. I changed the splash screen O in Phoenix to an Omega, so the title becomes Omega Phoenix. That way I'm hopefully not stepping on any copyright laws by usin...

Re: Phoenix ZX81 arcade conversion

Oh my goodness that's extraordinary. Really gets the feel of the arcade. I did stumble into one quite bad bug - when I smushed a bird with my shield on the first wave I knocked a big chunk out of the border, which affected all the other graphics, and did so persistently even after Game Over. Had to...

Phoenix ZX81 arcade conversion

My latest project is a conversion of the 1980 arcade game Phoenix. This is a beta version so a few other people can test it and let me know if they find any bugs or have any ideas to improve it. It only takes up about 12kb so there is some spare memory for any other ideas anybody has. This version u...

Re: Tractor Beam - Galaga Edition

Changing the alien character codes isn't difficult. I can see the zero is the main problem. As you are replacing the character, it doesn't really matter what is used for each alien. It could be a question mark or a dollar sign and it wouldn't matter.

I'll have to check these out. Looks good.

Very ambitious programming. Has this actually been programmed? I would love to see it.
