Just guessing, I will probably be wrong again ;) but 64 is 6 bits of binary. So it may be that the AI coding can address 64 squares, with 2 on each border not in the map, but for "overflow" when using its algorithms. In my youth I copied most of the information from this book into a notepad in the reference section of the library (photocopies were 5p each, way too expensive!). Oh, the trials of the pre-internet era. Now, I'm just using the online PDF as a reference

I might have missed this in the thread, since you're using a modern TV (which may not be happy with the 81's poor quality output), have you put your oscilloscope on the actual signal to the TV to see what it's sending out? I'm aiming for full screen display and, since this means rearranging the display file (moving which lines are long and short), it has to be done between fields, to prevent jittering and artifacts, etc.

Daniel, what was the thing with Problem 1? Are you trying to remove the Save/Load menu entirely, or change the options, or something else? Does it not need those options?
