Would I be in error to say that the electronics use a 3.5" PC floppy disk drive?
Would I be in error to say the only electronics necessary is the previously published schematic?
(By the schematic, I cannot tell how the connector attached/connector to a ZX81.)

I would also get the KDLX keyboard or new membrane and install because your membrane may be brittle and not making proper electrical contact. And if you can solder I would put on one of the 16K onboard RAM chips right from the start from sellmyretro.com. Or if you can afford a ZXPAND! I haven't been...
