Looks like an additional finned heatsink was added. Luckily nowadays the 7805 can be replaced with a switching regulator. I was able to make space in the case by removing the heatsink afterwards. Guys, I dug out my old TS1000, which was my first computer. I got it in 1982. See pics below. It was working when last powered up, which would have been in the mid 1980s. I just dug out my TS1000 and I have everything but the PSU (actually it's probably around here somewhere). I remember it taking 9V but I'm not sure I remember the polarity. It's a 3.5mm mono phone jack and I think that the + is on the tip. Can anyone confirm that?
