Re: NOOO.. My just arrived TS 1500 is flakey!

I recently discovered a power supply in with my ZX81 stuff that was capable of running a bare bones ZX81, but was not up to the job of a ZX81 with memory pack. Screen puke of various description. (Tossed it out of there of course.) Try another power supply unit, just in case.

How to Load a Program

There has been much discussion of late upon the perils of loading a decades-old Sinclair ZX81 program from cassette tape, and the best volume control setting etc. to use. I humbly feel that the following method, developed after years of research, yields the most consistent results: Invent a time mac...

Re: Programs on tape

Sorry Jørgen, but actually both programs are missing the beginning of the file. I can do nothing with incomplete files.

Biorytmer looks like it may have been an accident in re-recording the clip to the computer. If so, then you can try that one again.

Re: Programs on tape

Yes, that is what I've been doing gammaray. "Periodic analysis"--looking at the size of the bits in the dropout, and then overlaying a "healthy" 4 or 9 bit pulse to replace them. Sometimes I can't really tell how the area should have looked, and then it becomes an "educated guess" at where the valle...

Re: Programs on tape

Partial success,... I went after the .wav images with a sound editor, and "cleaned up" Programs 1, 2, and 4 to a point where they will load reliably to my Lambda. Muppet Labs.jpg Program 3 however, has severe dropouts, and I have been unable thus far to repair the missing areas with cut & paste embr...

Re: Programs on tape

Hi Jørgen, and all, I too am looking forward to working with those .wav files, hoping my "Scrubber-Dubber" gizmo can retrieve questionable images and write cleaner copies. Like you mrtinb, I have zero "native" software for my "Your Computer" (what an insipid name) version of the Lambda. This is very...

Re: A Gaggle of ZX81's for sale

No power or accessories--tough sell. Somebody had aspirations of distributed-computing something or other, but with today's Arduino and Fruit Pi platforms, there are better ways. It would be nice to refurbish them all and sell them one-by-one, but collectors want the full package. Being on the Ameri...
