Re: zx spectrum 128K +2 (grey, issue 1) rgb problem

That's almost definitely TR8 and TR9 that have failed, since you get the same results over RF as well as RGB. On the Z70700 Issue 1 boards, TR4 and other transistors are the correct way around, although you do have to relocate C31 to remove the audio mix (this is only a problem if you're using compo...

Re: "Different" ZX81's

*Waits for B to drop his US Issue 3 PCB out" Whoops, bit late :D Anyhow, here's my US Issue 3 (right) along with a UK Issue 3 (left, *slightly* modified): https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5518/30649937604_08a3776628_b_d.jpg https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5486/30682095873_9a1b92485a_b_d.jpg B

Re: "Different" ZX81's

That would make perfect sense - the UK and USA Issue 1 PCB's were necessarily different, and I guess the Issue 3 was intended to be a 'universal' PCB with provision for extra components/shielding points required for the US market.

Re: ZX8-CCB vs ZXVid

I agree about market viability, it's simply not realistic to install a ZXVid in an unboxed Zeddy that probably cost less than the ZXVid itself. The CCB I reckon is responsible for saving a huge amount of Zeddies from oblivion, as it's a fantastic cost-effective product (and would be at twice the pri...

Re: ZX8-CCB vs ZXVid

The price of the CCB against the ZXVid is a major advantage. In the interests of fairness though, I installed a ZXVid in my boxed '81 and found that the picture is slightly more true to the orIginal output, in terms of output sharpness, the CCB is almost too 'perfect' :D However I find a SMD 1uf cap...

Re: RWAP Software is 30 Today

Congrats Rich :)

It's got to be the keyboard membranes - such a notionally simple product but one without which many more ZX81's, Spectrums and other machines would have been consigned to the scrapheap.
