Hi & Replica ZX80
Re: Hi & Replica ZX80
Hm. So the TK85 had a place for AY, on the motherboard?

Yes, if you look at the pic of the insides I posted, you will see an 'empty' 28 pin area, it went there, plus there's an 8 pin area on the right where the LM386 audio amp chip could go.... I think maybe one or 2 other chips had to be fitted as well (the address decoder), there was a page on the 'net giving all the details about adding it but can't remember what it was at the moment...may have it downloaded somewhere...

Gozzo:
Ha, interesting. I must have heard about it before - but I don't think it was clear then whether it's a ZonX standard - or another.
What do You think?

Re: Hi & Replica ZX80
Found it, here it is as a compressed folder! This was translated by google then saved on my computer, you need to double click on the 'translate_c' HTML file,... the original 'net page does not seem to exist any more - lucky I saved it!

Have now found the original under a different address.. http://zx81.eu5.org/tkay.htm
Re: Hi & Replica ZX80
That's strange. There is something in the site that prevents my computer against opening it (doesn't matter whether the fil or the googletranslate link). Would You be so kind to copy here a proper fragments?
Thx.

Re: Hi & Replica ZX80
Hi Mathias
Looks like you have either two EPROMs and a ROM, or three EPROMs there.
I suggest you put a piece of black insulation tape, or a lightproof paper sticker over the clear window of the left-hand EPROM to prevent the UV light in daylight (and some artificial lights) from erasing it. Internet rumour has it that camera flash can cause rapid erasing, but I'm not sure about this, as proper UV erasers take 6 to 10 minutes or more. One day, I will test this maybe...
The left-hand EPROM looks like a 2716 type, but I can't clearly see all the type number. A 2716 EPROM is a 2k byte device.
The right-hand EPROM is a 2732 type. This is a 4k byte device. It is soldered piggy-backed on another EPROM or ROM, which I presume is a 8k byte chip containing ZX81 BASIC.
By the way, it would have been better to have posted this in a new thread . Maybe Richard can move it?

There are four lights!
Step up to red alert. Sir, are you absolutely sure? It does mean changing the bulb

Re: Hi & Replica ZX80
Thanks. The Eprom on the left is a SGS M2716. I think it should be possible to switch on/off the ROMs but I don't know how. Any suggestions?
