Sorry, I had renamed the file to add a ZX80 suffix but forgotten to uploaded it (I am planning a port to the ZX81 and so wanted to differentiate them via the filename). The original link now works.
RWAP wrote:Hey that looks really good - I presume that it is public domain? Would you be willing to allow me to add it to my software downloads page - http://www.rwapsoftware.co.uk/zx81/zx81_software.html
For the moment I would appreciate it if people would link to my page instead. I have had to correct a couple of bugs so far that have come to light, hence the version listed is the third iteration of the game. Hopefully it will be the last and is now bug-free but I can't guarantee it. Hence I prefer to have just a single source of download for the file and that way people will always get the latest version.
RWAP wrote:Paul - what about the Space Invaders game - surely that is still copyright?
Yes, the Space Invaders game is copyright Macronics (I believe) and I do not know whether they have given permission for it to be distributed on the Internet. I first came across the game several years ago on the Internet on various websites but there were no details of who had originally produced it. At the end of last year I started to diassembly the game to see how it achieved its flicker free display and then pieced together bits of information from a range of old magazines to conclude it was published by Macronics and the written by Ron Bissell. So at least the creators of the program are now attributed. However, I can be 100% certain about this information and I do not know how to get in contact with the guys that ran Macronics to confirm it and ask for distribution permission. The game has been readily available on the Internet for many years now so hopefully if there were complaints then it would be well known by now, but I have not found any such references. So yes Macronics owns the copyright (unless they sold it on) but whether the game is in the public domain is unknown. If anyone has any thoughts on how to go about finding and contact Macronics then I would be keen to follow this up, and if they are unhappy to have the program distributed then I will of course remove it from my site.

I have asked on WoS forums, as WoS has quite a few Macronics listings already (though not this one)

Tell me more about the "non-flicker", please...

Greetings
Jens

P.S.: I am one of the prototype-tester for the ZX80-LEGACY - the computer is 100% compatible (as I can say at the moment) - so space invaders works fine !!! :-)
eyerything will be okay in the end.
if it´s not okay, it´s not the end.

Another source ofd ZX80 programs is Jim Grimwood's The Type Fantastic website:
http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~jg27p ... pehome.htm

This has a number of type-in programs for the ZX80 from various computer magazines that have been typed in and made available for download. Of note I recommand those from Mike Hyams in ZX Computing which I submitted last year. There are several 16K programs written in BASIC which stand out from the 1K efforts that typically appeared in magazines - Grandstand, Chart Topper and Streets of London.

Full page scans of various magazines can be found here:
ftp://ftp.worldofspectrum.org/pub/sinclair/magazines/

A few contain information and programs for the ZX80, e.g. Sync, Interface, ZX Computing and Sinclair Programs.

Hi Jens
First at all, thanks for the programs :)

Do you know if there are more sync programs out there, I mean in digital format.
I'm asking because sometimes like to type in old programs and I just downloaded the first 6 numbers of SYNC and if there aren't in other site I will do the work.

Thanks
Gus

Hehe guys, if You actually will do another non-flickering game for ZX80, then I would be *really* impressed. :)
