81 with built with internal RAM and ROM expansion? Who knows....

It's not an engineering piece or prototype IMHO. The wiring's too rag-tag. Well done but nonetheless. The caps on the edge of the ttl board are all different. A dev team would have a box of similar caps. I don't think they wouldn't bother hacking an '81 to that extent. A prototype would be built on a eurocard, not squeezed into an '81 case.

The calculator is a rockwell, if it was anthing to do with Sinclair it'd have a SOC model, no?

I think this is 'just' an extreme hobbyist machine. Worthwhile having a look at though! I remember one memory upgrade that sat under the keyboard and came with a new heatsink - I wonder if that's what this is?
