It needs 56k of ram and MC above 32k?

Ah, 48K. Yes indeed - not a long time ago - the 16K was the standard.
After ZXpand appeared (thx to SirMorris ), the standard is 32K nowadays.

Actually, it doesn't run MC in upper ram, it just needs the RAM to store the individual frames.
There is a version of Macrolife that runs in 16K, but you can't do much with it.
