BMP 2 UDG for ZXPand with UDG Board

Post by GCHarder »

This utility will convert a 2bit 64x64 pixel BMP to UDG data. Several sample BMPs are included.

Enjoy and Merry Christmas to all.

I may have spoken in haste.

Whilst it works with Eighty One( on which I initially tried it) I cannot see anything resembling a useable Bmp using real zeddy-Xpand and UDG 4 ZXpand board regardless of settings, where there should be a bit map all I get is screen noise. :(

Have you RAM configured for 8k-16k region?

(I have not tried it on real hardware yet)

Yes tried both settings for Xpand RAM (the Xpand low memory setting is 8 to 40k not 8 to 16k) and both settings for the UDG board (64-128)

The 64 UDG setting gives me a UDG consisting of a panel containing a few weird shapes, the numbers 0-9 the letters a-z all in inverse, any other settings just gives visual white noise.

I have a feeling this is intended for a DK'Tronics or similar board not the UDG 4 ZXpand board.

It's more likely our developer has only tried it with Eigthy One :o

I've attached hardware Test Perhaps your not entering the BMP name correctly so all your seeing is the junk that is already in memory and not the actual bmp data. When entering a file name the .BMP extension is assumed so enter runner not runner.bmp
Also the bmp files are assumed to be in a bmp/ subfolder.

Many thanks Greg I have entered the names correctly but will try again and report back.
I'm using an older mk1 Xpand with AY unit attached not sure if this differs from the ZXpand+.
