Pascal for ZX81

Post by mrtinb »

Hi :-)

https://archive.org/details/your-comput ... 9/mode/2up

This article mentions Pascal for ZX81. Has anyone seen, used it, or have a copy?

I've never seen that but I'm on the other side of the pond.

In the US, Semper Software's Partial Pascal ran on the ZX81.

I guess no one has figured out what commands exist on the 3 letter prompt.

From reading all the articles, it seems programs only run within the Pascal environment :-(.

Have not tried it. I have figured out who wrote it, going to reach out to him soon.

Semper went on to make Modula-2 for the Mac.

I know Pascal. That’s not the issue.

The problem is this implementation gives you a 3-letter prompt, Nothing happens no matter what I type. This software seems useless without it’s manual.

I’ve looked through the binary both in ascii and zxscii. There’s not recognizable words.

I have not tried all 110000 combinations of the 3 letters.

that's becoming an interesting mystery, there are several references in archive.org talking about this product, but no clue on how actually using it
This article looks promising, though:

I'll try typing 'PRO'..

one more doubt: Control Technology seems to have had a PASCAL language for the ZX81.
Semper Software was clearly advertising a simplified PASCAL subset specific for the ZX81.
They could have been 2 separate products.. but also a simple reselling operation.

As stated before. I’ve seen all the ads. But no one has the manual.

The software is useless without the manual. It requires 3-letter commands that no one can guess.
