Starting Forth Forth79/Toddy

Post by Moggy »

For those of us who are interested in Forth, especially the now updated Toddy Forth, it can be somewhat frustrating trying to find online works or usable examples that will run as compiled or compile at all.

Using Toddy as an example you will discover that its creator, Kmurta, has made it very compliant with Forth79.
A good book to use with this latest Toddy incarnation is "The complete Forth" By A.F.T Winfield which can be found here....

However another book constantly recommended is "Starting Forth" by Leo Brodie. This book was also originally based on Forth79, however when the online versions were authorised he asked that a lot of the content be brought up to ANS Forth standards which means for Forth79 or Toddy,a lot of the examples and meaningful content in the online copies is useless.

I have however found a PDF of the non updated,Forth79 version of the book which can be found here...

So we now have two useful books for use with Toddy.

Forth never lured me, but very recently I've seen one of the strangest book covers ever created that might have been done for the purpose...
Moggy hope you don't mind some lighter book ...
