Thanks for typing the program up.

I found several errors in the BASIC and machine code, and the program now at least runs. However, I'm not sure if further bugs exist or the game is just a bit poorly written. It also doesn't help that I have no idea what it's on about when it talks about a Chinaman and Googlies... A guess a cricket fan will be better placed to comment on whether it makes sense and plays in a sensible way.

Chinaman and Googlies.

Simply put when a right handed spin bowler bowls to a right handed batsman, the normal action is for the ball to turn away from the batsman, a Googly ball turns into the batsman.

A Chinaman is a left handed spin bowler, bowling the mirror image of the right handed bowler re leg spin and Googly etc.

There is more nuance to it but for a simple description it suffices.

I don't very much this game will exhibit such finesse though.

All very similar really, except in American sport they wear body armour whereas in English sport we break mid-afternoon for a relaxing cup of tea, a sandwich and a slice of cake...

I can't say I've ever been into cricket, else I would probably already have heard of the terms. I could handle the cup of tea, sandwiches and slice of cake; it's just the rest of it that I'm afraid puts me to sleep. But it is nice to now have an awareness of what the terms mean because otherwise they just make no sense whatsoever!

By jibberish I was referring to the terms themselves, not your excellent explanations of what they mean.
