Frontend for ZXpand+ with pictures on the right side?

Hello,

I use ZXpand-Commander which is a great tool for navigating the SD card and doing copies/deletes/renaming etc.

However, I wanted to know if there was an alternative allowing:

• display on the left : the list of files.
• display on the right : a BMP monochrome image of the corresponding file name game (with the same BMP name as the .p file).

This would be really practical, and a great visual asset.

Does this kind of utility exist?

Commander has the ability to display monochrome (1 bit) BMP files of a maximum size of 256x192 and without compression. So, save the image in that format and place it along with the .p program. Then select the BMP file and hit the NEWLINE to show the image.

Note that the screenshot generated by the EightyOne emulator needs to be converted to 1-bit mono and needs to be generated without borders.

Nice, thank you for the idea.

I just did the test.
Ok it works, but each time the image is displayed in full screen.
So you have to exit to go back, select a new image, validate with NEWLINE to display it, exit again, and so on.
It remains quite cumbersome to use and not user friendly enough.

My wish, would have been to find a utility with a list of files on the left, and each time the cursor passes over a file : an image on the left would be displayed (for example in 128x96).
Without having to validate with NEWLINE.
While keeping the list available on the right.

But I think I'm asking a lot.

The commander is shown i text mode, and the BMP is viewer in graphics mode.

For your request to work, the program has to be totally in graphics mode, and write the text as graphics.

Feel free to create a file commander with these features and share it here.

Wilf Rigter has written programs, which use hires display in the upper screen area and text mode in the lower area.
So everything is possible, when using a ZX81, but somebody needs to do it

So, I don't have the skills to do it... Otherwise I wouldn't have asked the question....

I believe GCHarder has made a program, where you have both graphics and programs you can start.

I seem to remember that there was a program besides ZX Commander, that could display graphics AND launch programs. Currently I cannot find the link.
