Altitude calculation for model rockets

Post by hmjswt »

Hallo,

After almost thirty years I have written a ZX81 program again.
It is written in ZXtext2P dialect.
You can calculate the altitude of a model rocket. Model rocketry is one of my hobby's.
A PDF with the theory of calculating the altitude is included on the page.
It is a very simple program. Just too wet the apatite en flex the fingers…
ZXtext2P, EO, and batch file for compiling the source code in ALTA.T2P are included.
Just type : cb alta. That's all.
P file to run in EO is included.

You can download it from : http://www.swtrocketry.com
Click on Sinclair ZX81

REM's are welcome.

It's very interesting to see how many different uses the little black door wedge can be put to :)

When the machine goes up _in_ the rocket ... well that's something I'd pay to see ;)

So what about mounting a Zeddy on a rocket then ?

Ah, Sir Morris,

You have committed yourself.
What are you willing to pay to see my ZX81 actually be launched by one of my rockets and safely, by parachute, return to the ground?
I am willing to commit myself, before the year is out, to launch my ZX81 into the air and safely return it to the earth…
(I have some echo in my mind that say's someone else made a similar statement, some 50 years ago…)
I think it will be fun to design a special rocket and launch the ZX81 as a special payload.
OK, now put your money up.
At least it will be an interesting experiment (and video), whatever the outcome.

Greetings,

Dear Sir Morris,

There are two rules we of the nobility live by:
Nobles Oblige
A man a man, a word a word
as you undoubtedly know.

On Monday you said: ´When the machine goes up _in_ the rocket ... well that's something I'd pay to see'
So I took up your challenge and let you know that I was willing to do so.

Apparently you are not able to honor your offer.
OK, there are other rules we honor like 'never embarrass anyone' and 'always offer a way out'.
So I am just going to do that.

I will be satisfied with a token sum of 1 cent. Or you may give a sum of your choice to a charity of your choice.
Either way, I will design, build and launch a model rocket honoring the ZX81.

Sincerely,
Hendrik Freiherr von Siewert

Hi Henk,

I didn't think you'd take me so literally :) I shall however, in the spirit of good-will, make a donation to Comic Relief - my preferred charity.

Well - what about a Paypal account to setup and everybody can make a donation on it.
I would do, too and could and would spend a few EUR on it.
I know fuel is expencive now.

Lets do a challenge, the rocket has to fly one meter in height for every EUR spend. What you think ?
And maybe we could do this at the german ZX team meeting in march next year in Mahlerts (Germany) as a highlight.
Many people would hopefully attend the meeting.
So you have one year for preparing, doing several tests and so on.

Wouldn't it be nice ? 8-)

Hallo PokeMon,

Yes!
I like that.
Except for one thing. I do NOT want any money.
Lets donate the money to a charity.
I will build the rocket. Model rocketry is not expensive.
Ideas about the look and decoration and, if you are a model rocketeer, about the design and construction are welcome.
We can then launch the rocket and donate the money at the German ZX team meeting in march next year.
I will make a special page on my website. With a PayPal donate button.
