Any WoS admins on here?

Post by RetroTechie »

I'm in need of a wee bit of assistance... ;)

Have been locked out of my World of Spectrum account for a while. Forgot how it happened, iirc logging in didn't work any more after updating my e-mail address. Since I don't post there often & was busy with other things anyway, went into read-only mode for (quite) a while.

I tried the password reset option a # of times, relevant link gets sent to the correct (new) e-mail address, and setting a new password appears to work (although I don't get a clear confirmation new password was set). BUT... then logging in with the new password does not work. "Sorry, permission denied". I've tried both old & new passwords, different browsers (using Chromium & Firefox on Linux here). Various attempts - no cigar.

There's an e-mail form on the WoS site here, which -at least for me- also didn't work. Grrr....

So I feel out of options, hence asking for help here. Especially some way to contact a WoS admin directly (e-mail address) would be appreciated. Don't know what's going on.. maybe my account got flagged somehow, or my user's entry in some database got corrupted? For the record: these problems are limited to WoS site only, I do NOT have any issues logging in / using other sites.

I'll copy your message to Lee on WoS, he is the administrator on WoS.

He is likely to ask for your WoSf user name, your old email and new email addresses. So send these to me via PM on here.

Lee wrote:Not sure what happened there - he went into users waiting confirmation so it seems the server didn't get his email confirmation back!

I've changed him to registered so he can log in now :)
So you should be okay now :D

Give it a try, and if you still have problems, let me know.

Seems to be fixed now, I was able to log in again on WoS. Thank you both Mark & Lee for the help! :D

Still think it was a problem with WoS site though, as I've not had similar issues elsewhere. Let's hope no other WoS are affected by this (whatever it was).
