48P-KDLX - ZX Spectrum+ / 128k / toastrack keyboard

Post by PokeMon »

So - last chance to preorder the already announced 48P-KDLX keyboard with low profile tactile switches for use with
* ZX Spectrum+
* ZX Spectrum 128k
* ZX Spectrum toastrack

The complete set (construction kit) consists of
2 layer pcb, 256x99 (10.0 x 3.9 inches)
58 ALPS tactile switches SKQGAFE010
2 flat cables to connect keyboard to the molex receptacles
5x 74HC4066 analog switches
4x BAT54A duplex diodes
11x BAT54C duplex diodes
1 capacitor 10uF/16V
4 resistor network 5x 100k

The complete set will be offered for GBP 24.00 nominal price on sellmyretro from next week on and all preorders will have a discount of 20% which results in effective price of GBP 19.20. I think this is a fair deal for all supporters of this project. Shipment will be GBP 2.90 for all international orders. This is an assembly kit for self construction. You need only regular soldering experience as the SOICs on the backside can be soldered easily with a distance of 1.27mm (1/20 inch).

The keyboard replaces the metal or plastic cover on the backside of the ZX Spectrum keybord membrane and improves plastic covers that are aged or baggy and give bad contact with newer (harder) membranes.

The keyboard works very well and there is an instruction manual provided. Here is how it looks when finished. 8-)

The SMD components are easy to solder even with regular soldering skills. ;)

Due to the thick plastic cover of the Sinclair Spectrum plastic washers have to be used while the "Samsung" Spectrums with the thinner metal plate can be used without these washers (they are provided in the assembly kit).

PS: 1024MAK, XorA and fatbob_gb - I already have seen your orders on the other thread - but I think it is more hardware related stuff and decided to open a new one here.

So for the mounting - here is the instruction manual.
Please read carefully the changed switch positions for some switches at the border for better contact before soldering.
Good luck. 8-)
