The only ULA's I would definitely either put a heatsink on, or limit their use, are the 6C001E-6 ones. I've come across a fair amount of these being faulty, and they've become colloquially known as 'suicide ULA's' by others too.

I don’t think it will be possible to use an external cooler via the edge connector unless it is possible to get ‘low profile’ connection blocks. Currently the connector more or less fills the edge connector slot when inserted on both the zeddy and Spectrum. Hey ho.

Thanks. Which motherboard version do these tend to reside in?

Issue 3 and 3B mostly, although they're also to be found in very late Issue 2's.
