The wires are kinda loose though, is there a better way to attach them?

Well, using a 8 pin DIN socket is a good idea ;-)

Like this one on eBay.

They are also available elsewhere.

Carefully solder the wires on. Keep in mind that you have to be quick, otherwise the plastic gets too hot and the pin will go out of line and go wonky. I also recommend using some sleeving, such as heatshrink to prevent short circuits.

Amazing, thank you! I've just ordered one of those DIN plugs and will probably order some heat shrink tomorrow (I think I might have some somewhere, or know someone who'll have some) I'm thinking of soldering some wires to give some extra length too, do the wires I use need to be of any specific strength?
