The 1000 hit the stores in mid 1982. Timex pulled out of the market in early 1984:

BTW, I'm in Buffalo, NY, the American home to Gladstone Electronics (they were from Toronto) and where Timex Sinclair User was published. Gladstone's office is about 1000' feet from my house and the TSU office is probably half a mile from where I work.
