Hello from Newcastle... that's in AUSTRALIA! ;)

Post by amigaman07 »

A big "Hello" from Sunny Down Under... Newcastle in OZ!

I am amigaman07, and some of you may know of me from the Commodore 16 & 64 Forums, and AMIGA Forum???

My First Ever Computer was a ZX81, way back in 1984 ! (I was 14 at the time and could Not Afford a ZX Spectrum)

I Traded in my "INTELEVISION" for the ZX81, which included a MEMOTECH RAM Pack with a Whopping 16kb RAM !

I was Really Excited with my Deal, until I got it Home, and found the ZX81 was a B&W Computer with No Sound!

(Try telling a 14 year Old why the ZX81 had an EAR Socket bat No Sound!!!) ;) "Can I have my INTELEVISION back Please SIR?"

I must admit, I had a lot of Fun Programming on my ZX81, and playing the odd Game. I learned how to Load and Save to Cassette, which eventually came in useful when I eventually Migrated to the ZX Spectrum 48k, MSX 64k and the Commodore 64.

Only recently have I once again acquired a ZX81 (2 Actually) bith Timex 1000's.

Going to have a Tinker and a Nice trip down Memort Lane.

Enjoy,

Darren (amigaman07)

Welcome home 8-)
I've been to Newcastle several times, but that was at the British east coast.
I'm from Germany and I love the silence of the Zeddy with on sound and even no noise of the keyboard membrane.
I sold some ZX81 network cards to Australia so there are more Zeddy fans down under than expected ;)
Kind regards Paul
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is.

Welcome Darren :D and yes I know where Newcastle is, Mrs Moggy's uncle lived there before he sadly passed over.
